Na última terça-feira (25/07) foram divulgados os indicados ao MTV Music Awards 2017, que tem como grande destaque esse ano o rapper Kendrick Lamar, indicado em oito categorias, incluindo artista do ano. kedrick concorre ainda nas categorias de melhor clipe de hip hop, fotografia, direção, direção de arte, efeito visual e coreografia pela faixa “Humble.”, que está no seu mais recente disco, “Damn.”.
Na categoria de rock concorrem Coldplay com “A Head Full Dreams”, Fall Out Boy com “Young And Menace”, Twenty One Pilots com “Heavydirtsoul”, Green Day com “Bang Bang” e Foo Fighters com “Run”.
As novidades desse ano são a categoria “Melhor Luta Contra o Sistema”, que irá celebrar clipes que lutam contra injustiças e colocam em discussão questões sociais, e a abolição da separação por gênero. Antes, a categoria de artista do ano era dividida em melhor clipe feminino e masculino.
